A Minton Orb shaped covered bowl made to mark the Coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. This is number 478 of a limited edition run of just 600. In high quality gilt around the rim of the lower section of the orb reads To Commemorate The Crowning of Queen Elizabeth The Second June 2nd 1953. Roses, thistles and shamrocks encircle the base. Stamped to the underside Limited issue of 600 of which this is no 478, the usual Minton stamp and signed designed by John Wadsworth. In superb undamaged original condition. No box or certificate. Stands about 5 1/2 inches 14cms high and weighs 500g. |

Coalport Limited Edition of just 1000, King William's College 150th Anniversary Isle of Man or IOM, 1830-1980. In good condition, with no chips or cracks, and reads to the back of the plate as follows " In 1668, Isaac Barrow, Bishop of Sodor and Man, put the estates of Ballagilley and Hango Hill, which now form the College grounds, into the hands of trustees. The foundation stone of the College was laid in 1830 by the then Lieutenant Governor of the Island, Cornelius Smelt, and the College was named after King William IV. Plate measures 10 3/4 inches (27 1/2 cm) in diameter, and weighs unpackaged 620 grammes. |

It continues to be a major force in education, and steeped in history. It houses the famous Book of Kells and the Book of Durrow.
