How to identify your pottery and porcelain?

If it has a registration diamond or registered design number, (often printed as Rd or Reg'd followed by a one to six digit number), click here for further details.

English made china is / was well marked in most cases. Minor factories might have decided not to mark every, or sometimes any item in a service and these ones can be hard to identify other than by look and feel.

Whilst some of the marks on the left can initially look daunting to identify, given decent reference works, time and experience they can be hunted down without causing marital splits!

Some great places to hunt down the manufacturer of your items can be found in our links pages.
