We are pleased to have been engaged to market this historically important hand made Newman & Sinclair 35mm cine camera. It comes in working order and complete with three lenses, filters, original tripod and fitted case plus four additional magazines again in a fitted case.

Each main part is matched by serial number, (766). This was bought by an Edinburgh photographic dealer from the now-defunct Ferranti plc where it was employed in their film department.

Items included in kit:

Newman & Sinclair cameras were the choice of professional film makers all over the world. One accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary on his ascent of Everest and Stanley Kubrick famously used four during the filming of one scene in A Clockwork Orange. Each camera was hand made by a single engineer. This had the interesting result that the number gears even varied between cameras of the same model depending on who constructed it.

We welcome any inspection by interested individuals or museums. Please email us to register interest in advance of this camera being offered at auction in London sometime during 2008 or 2009.
