	A good 19th Century oil painting on board - Bridge and Pass Aberglaslyn by A Hartley. Confident brush work and a slightly moody use of light combine to make for a most atmospheric work. A pair of figures in period dress can be seen crossing the bridge. Framed and glazed. The painting itself measures about 13 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches. Framed, measures 17 1/4 x 14 1/2 inches. Weighs 2300 framed. If required, this could be unframed to save on shipping, but the frame appears to be of the period so that would not be our recommendation. One is of Derwentwater, the other of Ullswater, lakes in Cumbria or the Lake District in the north of England. Clear signatures to the prints themselves as well as on the mounts. 	A superbly executed miniature portrait on ivory dating to about 1890. The subject is of a middle aged lady wearing strings of beads and period dress. The skin tones are absolutely superb and virtually every hair can be made out. 	A very nice pair of artist signed prints one certainly of Venice, the other of a castle next to the sea, so I am guessing Venice again. Signed N (or possibly W or M) Francis Jackson. In good condition to the prints themselves and the simple black frames with just a couple of scrapes here and there, although the brown paper backing is falling away from both. 	A pair of signed grey wash watercolours painted in Krakow, Poland in 1996. The paintings themselves are quite small at about 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches but are extravagantly mounted, glazed and framed in dark wood. The paintings themselves are of buildings with which I am unacquainted but are well executed by an artist whose signature I can not work out. Dated 1996 to the bottom. Framed, each picture measures about 11 1/2 inches x 10 inches and the pair weigh 1600g unpackaged. Please note that we can deframe the paintings if required in order to substantially reduce the postage costs, but that would seem a shame as these really are extremely good quality frames. 	Super Baxters print, understand that the picture is called "Me Warm Now", and depicts a young black boy warming himself by the fire. It was printed mainly for the American market about the time of the Great Exhibition in New York in 1853, where Baxter had a stall for the sale of his prints. Thought to be to help promote the Anti-Slavery movement, which Baxter had in the past been identified with. Nicely mounted and framed in a gilt frame. 	A mounted, framed and glazed sepia tone print of the Dee Bridge & Mills in Chester. There was originally a wooden bridge crossing the Dee at this point. It, however, broke down and was replaced by the present structure which was erected by the citizens in 1280. It consists of seven arches of regular size and shape. The Mills date back to a period shortly after the Norman Conquest. They were the property of successive Earls of Chester, who drew large revenues from them. 	A mounted, framed and glazed sepia tone print of houses in Watergate Street in the City of Chester. A printed quote on the reverse reads 'This etching gives a very interesting group of buildings. The house to the left is known as Bishop Lloyd's Palace and it is certainly unique. From gable almost to basement it is decorated with a constant succession of grotesque carvings, the designs presented in the eight lower panels being of particular note. Five of the number are intended to illustrate the plan of Salvation, and have for their subjects "Adam and Eve in the Garden", "Cain murdering Abel", "Abraham offering Isaac", "The Immaculate Conception" and a symbolic representation of the fulfilment of the prophecy to the Virgin. 	A mounted, framed and glazed sepia tone print of the Water Tower in Chester. The Water Tower was erected for military outposts at a time when the River Dee flowed up to the City Walls. Vessels were, in those days, moored alongside the Tower. It suffered from the artillery of Cromwell during the Great Civil War and has of late years been used as a Museum. The group of square stone pillars in the foreground are the remains of a Roman Hypocarest or Sweating Bath discovered while excavating in Bridge Street.
